day 1 / Midtown - 8 miles

Well we made it to New York Friday afternoon and had some killer views of the city from our plane, a nice tipoff to the trip ahead. FYI - I wore my pedometer everyday to track our mileage and it def added up. First Day = 8 miles, yeah believe it.

We then headed over to the famous Macy's just to check things out.

Unknowingly to us we had booked a one bedroom suite which turned out to be a treat. We were on the top floor (37th) and had great views of the city. We felt pretty cool that's for sure, a great place to come back to at the end of the day.
After we settled in we headed back out for the evening to explore the midtown area, hooked up our Metro Cards and were ready to cruise the city. I would just like to say Steve became quite the photographer on this trip.
The MOMA was "free" Friday nights so we headed there to check things out.

Next stop Rockefeller Center. Steve loves the show 30 Rock and a lot of other biz goes down here obviously. Cool building, cool place to chill.
After some great Japanese/sushi at Haru it was on to Times Square, Steve loved it here. So many people just looking at a bunch of lights, haha.

We hit up our first baseball game of the season last Friday at Turner Field where the Braves played the Diamondbacks...and won of course. It was a perfect evening watching baseball, eating ice cream, and watching fireworks. We need to do this more often.

tail of the dragon

This overnighter was from the end of April when I was already in Idaho Falls. Steve and his dad drove north (on their bikes) for a sweet bike ride for two days. Steve planned the itinerary through North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee and said it was the best time ever on their bikes. The main highlight was the "Tail of the Dragon" in North Carolina thought to be one of the world's best motorcycling and sports car roads because of all the curves and elevation drop. These boys and their bikes = love.

That's right, it's really me with that lovely silhouette. I am halfway to giving birth to a boy similar-looking to the one below.

the wedding extravaganza

Kurt and Paige's wedding day went smoothly with friends and family in town in the big city of Idaho Falls. They both had smiles from ear to ear all day. It was great having our whole family in town and being able to spend a few days together.

canadian love

Cardston, Lethbridge temple...awesome. We were able to attend a session there Saturday morning where Kurt's fiancee Paige went for the first time. They put on their wedding attire afterwards to get pictures with 'her temple.' They will be getting married in Idaho Falls this weekend.


That evening they had a reception in Lethbridge and the line was nonstop the whole time. It was beautiful evening of pink and yellow and happy faces.

"o canada"

My little bro is getting married May 2 (to a girl from Canada) and so Kandis and me headed west a week early to make it to the Canadian festivities. We road-tripped north over the weekend to Lethbridge, Alberta and can I just say it was the flattest place I have ever been (flatter than the mid-west even). I was hoping it was going to be mountainous everywhere but that ended halfway through Montana. bummer.

We headed to midtown this past weekend for the annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival held at Piedmont Park which is pretty much a bunch of people hanging out with their dogs (for the dog contests) and a bazillion fine art vendors. The park it is held at is ginormous and you pretty much cruise the whole thing and look at art while munching on the ever popular dippin' dots (our snack of choice). Do you love Steve's amazing hair? Yes, he's growing it out.

Happy Day Mr. Lincoln

Our nephew Lincoln had an amazing animal party for his 1st birthday.
They played Zebra Bowling with water bottles and a coconut.
Then they went on a lion hunt. And then they did an egg hunt with animal eggs.
Lincoln enjoyed his first cake.
How come the adults didn't get fun animal ear headbands? We had to get a pic of ourselves with them on.

chocolate maca-what?

That's right my favorite Easter Treat
Chocolate dipped Coconut Macaroons

1 (14 ounce) package BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut
2/3 cup sugar
6 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 egg whites
1 teaspoon almond extract
Bakers Milk Chocolate for dipping

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour baking sheets; set aside. Mix coconut, sugar, flour and salt in large bowl. Stir in egg whites and almond extract until well blended.

2. Drop coconut mixture into 36 mounds, 2 inches apart, on prepared baking sheets, using about 1 tablespoonful of the coconut mixture for each mound.

3. Bake 20 min. or until edges are golden brown. Immediately remove from baking sheets to wire racks. Cool completely.

Yield: 36 servings
