can you believe... a tornado?

Apparently while we were comfortably watching "Dan in Real Life" at the Barlows there was a tornado ripping through downtown.

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- A tornado swept through downtown Atlanta Friday night around 9:45pm, slamming trees into cars and homes, disrupting a college basketball game and damaging the building that houses CNN. Virtually all of the windows facing Centennial Olympic Park and the Omni Hotel, which is attached to CNN Center, were shattered. Next door at the Georgia Dome, the SEC conference basketball game between Alabama and Mississippi State was halted.

I <3 disney

( Steve's request: get a picture with Goofy)

The other two days we were in California we hit up Disneyland, California Adventure, and Knott's. We cruised around with the Garner's and our family and my dad was a machine running around getting Fast Passes. We only had to wait in the regular line for 1 ride!

go skyline!

After the crazy year their team has had they pulled through with a great routine at nationals. They had a few bobbles but placed 6th. It was so fun being there and remembering the first time we started going in March 1996 when I was a junior. Yes, I am old now. It was fun supporting Kate and seeing how far the squad has come in 12 years.

the pirate mis-adventure

We cruised around with the group that evening and everyone was going to the Pirate adventure (show and dinner) - kind of like Medieval Times. Dinner was thumbs down, show was good, cost overpriced. We had fun hanging out together though.

venice beach

We made it to the West Coast Friday afternoon and stopped by Venice Beach on the way to the hotel. It was crazy being on both coasts within two weeks of each other. My parents said they left 8° weather in Idaho Falls that morning.

the other side of the country

I'm headed to LA for a few days to meet up with my Mom, Dad, and Kandis for Katelyn's cheer competition. There were some killer prices on flights so my Dad talked Kandis and me into coming out. I am excited to see Kate cheer since I haven't seen her perform much (living out east). It will be fun to have all us girls and my Dad hanging out together for a few days.

outkast at the airport

I had to run Kandis to the airport this morning to catch a flight to LA. I was hanging out with Kenedee and the bags close to the Business class line while Kandis was at the kiosk. This guy right next to us (in the business class line) waves and says hi to Kenedee and I looked up and smiled, looking at him thinking 'that's Andre 3000'. I thought about asking if it was him but I felt like a dork so I didn't. I was second guessing myself too because he just had regular black luggage and was traveling solo. I ended up asking the lady at the counter and she confirmed...it was him.

bike week 2008

Man Heaven - a plethora of motorcycles everywhere...Steve and his Dad were in love in Daytona this past weekend seeing all the amazing bikes. Steve found his love in a BMW sport bike. They were able to test drive a bunch of bikes (BMWs, Harley's, Spider), take luxury drives along the beach coastline, eat manly food like steaks, drive the main street drag, hang with fellow bikers, and just simply feel cool.

The beach ride

Daytona International Speedway; Main Street; bikes everywhere instead of cars; the wall of death - they ride sideways in a big tube.

Steve and his bad self.

His favorite Harley; The Spider; Cool bike; angels sound 'ahhhhhhh' THE BEAMER BIKE = love

Riding the Spider - 2 wheels in front, one in back; 2 cool bikes; last one is a bike with a V8 car engine.

They couldn't stop talking about the trip after they got home last night. I am glad they returned home safe but it was even better seeing their faces and the fun male-bonding trip they had.

off to daytona

Packed up and ready for an 8 hour drive - sore butts anyone? They left Thursday at 36° and returned Sunday at 71° - much better.

How sexy is Steve's bike? I snapped a few glamour shots before they took off. That's Deluxe!

4 days of harley love

Steve and his dad left today for Bike Week in Daytona Beach, FL for the weekend so be looking forward to some amazing pics of their adventures...stay tuned. Although it makes me a little nervous for their weekend on motorcycles, seeing them all geared up made me pretty excited for their sweet trip - just hope they have a safe ride.

Steve's Dad has a Honda VTX 1300 and he rented Steve a 2007 Harley-Davidson FLSTN Softail Deluxe (an early graduation present). This is what his bike looks like, how cool is that!

last stop: sea kayaking

So before we headed our separate ways on Sunday we went on a 3 hour sea kayak tour out at Tybee Island and IT WAS AWESOME. It was only my third time ever going so I was excited. (Excuse the no makeup mode and unattractive life vest.. hehe) The area was so cool going across the ocean inlet into the marshy grasslands area with these cool creeks winding through for miles. We saw dolphins swimming along and it was great way to enjoy the quiet morning in nature. I have to give a plug for Savannah Canoe & Kayak - Kristin was a great guide.

tales from the south

Although nights weren't my favorite in Savannah, the days were a blast. We had some amazing food, did some great shopping, and walked the whole freaking city Friday and Saturday. We had yummy tapas Thursday night at Jazz'd and a killer dinner Friday night at Local Eleven 10. These are just a few pics of the highlights:

ABOVE: Going down below on river street AND awesome street view of the row houses

ABOVE: Cool Cafe called Gryphon where we stopped for a snack, used to be an old pharmacy in 1926.

Newly Opened Marc by Marc Jacobs store AND crazy store installations showcasing the clothing

scary savannah

Okay so my old friend Judy from work was down in FL for business for the week and since we hadn't seen each other for over a year (since she changed companies) she talked me into road trippin it to Savannah for the weekend so we could hang out and catch up. Little did we know the place she booked for us was HAUNTED.

Although newly renovated with very contemporary furnishings, armoires, and flat screens I could not relax to sleep each of the three nights we were there. As the bellman dropped Judy's bags off the first night he said "how long you guys staying?" Judy answered, "Three nights". Bellman in a serious manner says "oh you will for sure see something then." Aaaagghhhhhhh. I do not recommend staying in ANY place with a back history of haunted stories...

dinner divas do february

It was Italian Night last week for this month's dinner and we had a great time at Kim's house eating Bruschetta, Strawberry/Kiwi/Pinenut Spinach Salad, Rolls, Shrimp Linguine w/Creamy Herb Sauce, and Italian Sodas. Kim did a great job with the love themed table too.

14 days of cupid

So I found this $3 mailbox from Michael's the end of January and thought it'd be fun to leave notes and treats from cupid in it for Steve up until Valentines Day. Little did i know Steve would get excited about the idea and start leaving cupid treats for me too. I have to say Steve wins on best prizes. I think this will be a new fun tradition for February/Valentines.

hole in one

I have to give a shout out to my husband Steve for getting his first hole-in-one on Saturday February 9. He hit the shot. Adam and Steve were watching the ball as it bounced on the green. Started to roll towards the flag. Then disappeared.
Steve in a bit of confusion:
"Did that just go in?"
Adam with reassuring excitement:
"Hey I think you just got a hole in one!"
Foursome of guys playing behind them:
"Hey man, did that just go in?"
Steve, realization setting in:
"Yeah I just got a HOLE-IN-ONE!"
= BEST DAY EVER for a game of golf - way to go Steve-O

a confident vote

I took this quiz tonight while watching the news stats roll in and it made me feel good about my vote. I guess I wasn't just a little biased, I voted right according to my views...did you?

she finally did it

One of my best friends from BYU, Emily Smoot, tied the knot this past weekend in Salt Lake City. The temple ceremony was awesome, it was fun experiencing my third wedding there, including my own. My friend Kristen and I flew in for the weekend's festivities (and left the hubby's at home due to costly plane tickets). We haven't all been together in a few years so we couldn't wait to celebrate Emily becoming a Baker! Her dress was GORGEOUS, I wanted to take it home with me. Congrats Em's, the party was fab-o.
